The Lockheed Martin-led Space Imaging Eosat company says that the first launch of its proprietary 1m-resolution commercial remote-sensing satellite, the Ikonos 1, on a Lockheed Martin Athena 2 booster from Vandenberg AFB, California, will be delayed from this month to later in the year. The delay follows a decision to undertake further pre-launch testing. The original launch date had been scheduled for December 1997.
