Ilyushin obtained basic type certification from the Russian state aviation authority MAK on 31 March for the Il-96T cargo version of the four-engined widebody, but some cockpit tests remain to be completed before full approval. Certification had originally been due last year. The first Il-96Ts are destined for Aeroflot. Certification of the IL-96M passenger variant is under way.
