Airbus's Premium Aerotec division has brought to ILA a mock-up of its pressure bulkhead for the Airbus A350 XWB, as evidence of its expertise in carbonfibre-reinforced plastics technology.
The full-scale model, on display at stand 101 in hall 7, measures 4.2 x 4.5m (13.7 x 14.7ft). It was manufactured using vacuum assisted process (VAP) technology.
Premium Aerotec is also presenting a fuselage barrel demonstrator that was also manufactured using VAP technology, along with a number of other models.
The metal and carbon composite aerostructures manufacturer, which employs 6,000, generated revenues of €1.1 billion ($1.31 billion) in 2009. It has production plants in Augsburg, Bremen, Nordenham and Varel in Germany, and will soon have another in Braşov, Romania.
