This year's ILA features an area dedicated to unmanned air systems for the first time. The UAS Plaza - at the outdoor display site in front of Halls 2 and 3 - is hosting products from Cassidian, General Dynamics and Northrop Grumman, manufacturers of the Barracuda, Predator and Euro Hawk unmanned air vehicles respectively.
The Bundeswehr is showing the Aladin, KZO and Luna unmanned aircraft at its display area.
Smaller systems are on show in Hall 3 on a combined stand featuring about 10 exhibitors, including start-ups from Denmark, Italy and Spain.
Accompanying the UAS display is a conference programme, focusing on payload and service providers as well as training and simulation. An international UAS workshop is being held on 14 September.
US-based Teal Group predicts spending on military UAS will almost double during the next decade, rising from $6.6 billion to $11.4 billion.
