Schiebel's Camcopter S-100 has become the first vertical take-off and landing unmanned aerial system to take part in the flying display at ILA, hot on the heels of its debut at last year's Paris air show. The Austrian company is showing a real-time feed from the helicopter's electro-optic/infrared sensor on screens at the show. In 2008 the S-100 completed a three-week trial operating from the German navy's K130 corvettes. The system is designed to carry out target reconnaissance and is being offered to Germany, with Diehl BGT Defence acting as prime contractor.
