International Lease Finance is in talks with Airbus about its order for 16 A350 XWBs, after the programme revamp has delayed its first deliveries to 2014, writes Darren Shannon.

The US lessor says in an annual financial report to the US Securities and Exchange Commission that "Airbus has advised us of delays and a redesign of the A350. We are currently in discussions regarding the delays."

The company notes that the delivery of its first A350-800 is delayed until 2014, two years later than originally scheduled under the contract signed for the original version of the aircraft.

ILFC also reveals that its cancellation clause for the 10 A380s it has on order can be enacted up to 30 June 2010.
