Cathay orders
Cathay Pacific Airways has ordered three more Airbus A330-300s to help cope with current and forecast rates of passenger traffic growth. The Rolls-Royce Trent 700-powered aircraft are to be delivered early next year.
JAL sells DHL stake
Japan Airlines (JAL) has sold most of its 26% stake in DHL Worldwide Express for an undisclosed sum to reduce debts. JAL says it has sold a total of 20% of DHL's equity to two unnamed investment trusts that the freight carrier says have also subscribed for an issue of new shares.
Open skies agreement
Australia and the USA have signed an open-skies agreement on cargo services. Australia's government says the agreement allows carriers to operate dedicated freight services without restrictions on capacity, aircraft type, codesharing, traffic rights or routes.
Singapore Airlines
Singapore Airlines (SIA) has finalised a controversial agreement with Boeing to exercise options on ten Boeing 777-200ERs and phase out its entire fleet of Airbus Industrie A340-300s. The agreement was first announced in June and will see Boeing purchasing up to 17 A340s from SIA if the carrier is not able to sell them on its own.
