Low-cost boost

Most business travellers in the UK cite cost as the most important consideration when choosing an airline. The findings, in a recent survey by Barclaycard, a UK credit card company, provide evidence of a growing trend to the use of low-cost carriers. For the first time, two low-cost airlines - easyJet and Ryanair - appear in the top 10 most frequently used airlines. About 40%of respondents had used a low-cost carrier, 12%up on the previous year.

SAS opts for Airbus

SAS has ordered 12 Airbus A321-100s for Scandinavian and European routes, with an option for 10 more. The A321 represents a new size class for SAS. The airline says that the order will enable it to increase capacity on key routes in Europe and Scandinavia, where it is not possible to add new flights due to congestion problems. "The decision shows we are serious about expansion plans. The new, larger Airbus planes will help us to fill our new intercontinental aircraft," says Jan Stenberg, chief executive of SAS.
