Specialist Brussels-based law firm Stanbrook & Hooper has brought in former European Commission (EC) air transport division head Frederik Sørensen as an aviation consultant. Sørensen, who retired from the EC in October 2001, will work with the firm's air transport group advising clients on aero-political and regulatory matters.

Naresh Goyal, chairman and owner of Indian carrier Jet Airways, has taken direct control of the airline's management committee following the resignation of chief executive Steve Forte. The committee is headed by executive director Saroj Datta.

Alitalia has appointed Luca Egidi as its chief financial officer, a new post at the airline combining finance and administration. He was formerly finance director.

Cathay Pacific Airways has named Nick Rhodes as its new director flight operations, succeeding Captain Ken Barley who is retiring after 23 years with the carrier.

Former British Airways chief executive Robert Ayling is joining UK-based travel company Holidaybreak in mid-2003 as its chairman. Ayling resigned from BA in March 2000.
