The Indian air force will receive the Zvezda Kh-31A (AS-17 Krypton) supersonic anti-ship missile as part of the weapons package for its 40 Sukhoi Su-30MKI aircraft now on order. A model of the Indian air force aircraft displayed at the Aero India '96 show in Bangalore earlier this month showed the aircraft fitted with the Vympel R-73 and R-77 air-to-air missiles and the Vympel Kh-29 and Kh-59M Raduga air-to-surface missiles, as well as the Kh-31. Along with the Kh-31, Zvezda is also to sell its ship-launched variant of the Kh-35 (AS-20 Kayak) subsonic anti-ship missile to the Indian navy. The Su-30MKI is a new thrust-vectored, canard-equipped, version of the Su-27 combat aircraft, fitted with Sextant Avionique avionics (Flight International, 11-17 December).
