Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman Dr Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan says the agency is building a dedicated research satellite - Astrosat - as part of India's plans for satellite-based advanced astronomy. Astrosat will carry x-ray and ultraviolet instruments for the long-duration study of cosmic bodies. The craft is being built in conjunction with the Mumbai-based Tata Institute of Fundamental Research and the Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Astrophysics.
