The Indian state-owned Aeronautical Development Establishment (ADE) expects its indigenously built Nishant unmanned air vehicle (UAV) to be introduced into Indian army service in late 1996. The Nishant, previously known as the Falcon, had its first flight in January. Bangalore-based ADE says that the UAV is intended for battlefield surveillance and reconnaissance roles.
