Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo is set to launch the Airbus A320neo, having tentatively agreed to take up to 150 of the new variant along with 30 regular A320s.
The A320neo is a re-engined version of the basic A320 with other structural enhancements including 'sharklet' winglets.
Airbus says the variant will be available from 2016. IndiGo has not indicated whether it would take the CFM International Leap-X or the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G geared turbofan.
IndiGo has signed a memorandum of understanding for the 180 aircraft.
