Indonesia is searching for a missing de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter that was reported lost on 2 October.
The aircraft, registered PK-BRM and operated by Aviastar Mandiri, was operating flight MV7503 from Masamba to Makassar. It was carrying seven passengers and three crew members, says Indonesia’s national search and rescue agency Basarnas.
The aircraft took off from Masamba at 14.25 local time, and was due to land in Makassar at 15.39 local time. It had reportedly lost contact 11 minutes after taking off.
Basarnas adds that to date, it has expanded the search area to six sectors, which includes Mount Rantemario.
Flightglobal’s Fleets Analyzer shows that PK-BRM was built in 1981. It was first operated by Air Dale, before being purchased by Airlines PNG in 1997. Aviastar Mandiri acquired the aircraft in February 2015.
