Much is being written about the effects of the 11 September terrorist attacks on the aviation industry. One would have expected to have read official positions taken by representatives of the industry vis-a-vis terrorism. However, all we read about is securing aircraft and airports. This is not enough.
The aviation industry must do its share in the "war against terrorism" by openly condemning countries and organisations that are behind it. Our strength is in our engineers, mechanics and pilots who make up the professional organisations, societies and institutions of this great industry. We cannot remain silent while groups of extremists and their supporters threaten the foundations of commercial aviation.
