Innocon has unveiled an advanced variant of its Spider unmanned air system, with the lighter-weight version being designed to conduct military and homeland security missions.

Company chief executive Michael Armon says the new variant has a maximum take-off weight of less than 5kg (11lb), and is equipped with a Nextvision day/night payload and a high-definition stills imagery camera.

The hand-launched Spider is based on the Israeli manufacturer's MiniFalcon UAS, which uses a tandem-wing configuration. Aircraft recovery is performed using a parachute.

"We develop new versions of our proven systems to answer the different operational needs of different customers," Armon says.
