Gulfstream has boosted its product range by rebranding the Galaxy and Astra SPX business jets under the Gulfstream banner.

Le Bourget yesterday witnessed the debut of the renamed super mid-size Gulfstream 200 and mid-size Gulfstream 100. The two come to Gulfstream as a part of the General Dynamics acquisition of Israel¹s Galaxy Aerospace earlier this month.

The move gives Gulfstream a range of business aircraft capable of meeting range requirements from 2,950nm (5,450km) to 6,750nm (12,500km).

Performance

"The Gulfstream name is synonymous with high-performance business jets," says president Bill Boisture. "By introducing this new series of Gulfstreams we are continuing that legacy and expanding it to the super mid-size and mid-size classes."

The G200 is the first of the new generation of super mid-size business aircraft to come to market and the first to enter operation. The aircraft has a range of 3,620nm (6,700km) at speeds of up to Mach 0.82 and cruises at altitudes of up to 41,000ft. "The G200¹s cabin is very spacious and similar in size to the Gulfstream II," says Gulfstream's Joe Walker, senior VP for worldwide sales.

The G100 offers a range of 2,950nm (5,450km) at 41,000ft.Israel Aircraft Industries will continue to manufacture the G100 and G200 in Tel Aviv, Israel. The green aircraft will be flown to Gulfstream¹s completion centre at Alliance Airport, Texas.
