Intelsat is to release a request for proposals for a new hybrid communications satellite to be positioned at the 310°E orbital location to increase its Atlantic Ocean Region (AOR) capacity. The international organisation plans to deploy the Intelsat 905 satellite in the AOR in the first half of 2002, and will consider the procurement of two more Loral-built Intelsat IXs.
