Despite the obvious impact that Asia's economic woes are having on the region's aerospace sector, it hasn't stopped more than 150 rotary-wing aviation companies signing up for Heli-Asia '98.

Organisers of the event, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 27-29 October, say that exhibitors are asking to take up more stand space for the Far East's only show dedicated purely to rotary-wing aircraft.

Heli-Asia '98 will feature double the number of exhibitors than the same event two years ago, and for the first time a series of 20 free specialist workshops will cover a broad spread of both civil and military operating techniques. A Royal Navy frigate will bring a GKN Westland Lynx helicopter to the show and the Malaysian army, air force, navy and police are also sending static exhibits.

Ian Rowan, from organiser Shepherd Conferences and Exhibitions, says: "Exhibitor and delegate interest is high and we have a great venue.

"Kuala Lumpur is a thrilling, vibrant city which offers great value for money. I believe Heli-Asia '98 will have broken even more records by the time it closes."
