Aviation leather specialist Aeristo (booth 955) is highlighting the fact that it is not just a "one size fits all" supplier by providing visitors to its stand with tailor made hats.

"If you buy the biggest hat there is, you may not be able to see where you're going," says Grand Prairie, Texas-based family business Aeristo's president Christian Schmidt. When it comes to equipping aircraft with leather seats and side panels, "it's our responsibility to find out what the ultimate use is, and then produce the product accordingly," he says.

Aeristo's primary target market is VIP aircraft owners, although it also supplies airlines including American Airlines, British Airways, Taca, Virgin America and WestJet.

The company, which has become a regular fixture at Aircraft Interiors shows, is debuting its Rotinda leather here in Long Beach, but Schmidt does not want his airline customers to get too excited about this one.

"This is strongly not recommended for commercial use because it's a very delicate high-end leather," he says. Rotinda, which is designed to provide a "sense of warmness and natural beauty" has already been purchased by one private jet customer.

Schmidt, who holds an inventory of 15,000 hides available in 160 colors, hopes that Aircraft Interiors can continue to grow attendance by VIP customers.
