Air Niugini and Royal Air Maroc are the latest two carriers to sign up for Rave in-flight entertainment system developed by California-based IMS.
Royal Air Maroc has picked the system for three Boeing 767s and a single 747. Installations begin in the fourth quarter. The aircraft will feature 15in displays in business class and 9in displays in economy.
Air Niugini, with support from Icelandair Technical Services, is installing the IMS system on its 767s. The carrier operates three 767-300ERs and will begin installing the system next spring. IMS has now secured nine airline customers for its Rave system covering nearly 150 aircraft.
Each seatback disply unit in the Rave system contains all of the content, applications and playback functionality to provide the passenger with audio and video on demand-just like portable solutions. "Royal Air Maroc needed a system that could be delivered with an aggressive schedule, without sacrificing features and reliability and at a competitive price," says IMS vice president sales and marketing, Harry Gray. "The IMS RAVE solution was the only choice in the industry that met all three objectives."
