Plastic interior assemblies supplier Vaupell and Trexel, developer of the MuCell microcellular foaming technology have announced a partnering and collaboration agreement.

The arrangement will see the companies develop and advance MuCell molding for lightweighting in aircraft interiors.

"We have been focusing on strategies to bring weight reduction solutions to the aircraft cabin interior. We believe MuCell is one of the most promising technologies offering weight reduction," says Mike Hamm, vice president of aerospace and defense for Vaupell, exhibiting at Aircraft Interiors Expo on stand 7G21.

Brent Strawbridge, vice president of North American sales and marketing for Trexel, says: "We understand from experience working with our global partners in the automotive industry that every pound saved is precious in terms of fuel economy, and we look forward to working in partnership with Vaupell to bring that same performance to aerospace applications."
