The US Navy has launched a programme to develop an internally mounted advanced targeting forward-looking infra-red (TFLIR) sensor for the McDonnell Douglas (MDC) F-18C/D and upgraded E/F. MDC is to be awarded a contract to evaluate available technology and determine the interface requirements for the TFLIR.
