Ion on

The ion propulsion system on the Deep Space 1 NASA New Millennium project spacecraft, en route to a fly-by of the asteroid 1992 KD next July, was turned off on 11 December after a 200h burn. The engine will be restarted on 18 December until January, before another hiatus lasting until March, before flight path corrections are made for the fly-by.
