Iran's civil aviation authority is poised to award type certification for Aviation Industries Research Centre's Shahed-278 helicopter. The aircraft, which made its first flight in 2001, is powered by a single Rolls-Royce Model 250-C20, although production models are likely to be equipped with the uprated C20B/C. The aircraft will be manufactured at Iran Aircraft Manufacturing in Shahinshahr, near Isfahan.
