Iraqi Airways is continuing to operate despite United Nations sanctions which have forced it to slash its fleet and limited it to a small domestic network. Director general Mamoun Al Nasseri says operations are "very difficult", with the state-owned operator currently flying four ageing Boeing 727-200s to two destinations in Iraq, including Basra. Al Nasseri says that Iraqi has a large spares holding to support the aircraft in the short term.
