Satcoms system operator Iridium expects to see its aviation business more than double this year, vertical markets executive vice-president Don Thoma said here yesterday.
The total of Iridium subscribers in the aviation market recently passed 5,000, while the number of aircraft fitted with Iridium-based data systems has grown 200% in the past 12 months.
“The aviation sector is a core and growing market for us,” said Thoma. “Our rapid growth in this market is largely due to the efforts of our strong network of value-added partners and service providers in the aviation industry worldwide."
