Bodenseewerk Gerätetechnik has asked us to correct two points in an article in Flight International, 24-30 March, concerning development of the IRIS-T short-range missile. IRIS-T development began in January 1998 and is to end in 2002. The Italian Government funded project definition work but Alenia did not contribute funds to the programme. The article had said development "begins this year and is due to finish in 2004" and that "Alenia Difesa has contributed L6.4 billion" to the work.
