In a sign of worsening relations between the two countries, the Israeli ministry of defence has cancelled a deal to supply optical and radar imagery intelligence systems to the Turkish air force for its Lockheed Martin F-16s.
The $141 million contract was signed in 2009 and was won jointly by Elbit Systems's Elop division, which was to supply its long-range oblique photography system (Lorops), and by Israel Aerospace Industries's Elta business with its SAR radar system.
Both Israeli companies were acting as subcontractors to Turkish firm Aselsan.
However, on 22 December the ministry of defence notified the two Israeli companies that their export permits were cancelled.
