The Slovenian air force is to upgrade its Pilatus PC-9s in a deal with Israeli company Radom. The trainers will have new avionics, including a wide angle head-up display and weapon delivery and communications systems.

Slovenian sources say the Israeli proposal was selected because it meets the specific requirements and was based on a proven design. Radom will supply the upgrade kits to the Slovenian air force and will supervise its installation.

According to sources in the capital Ljubljana, the upgrade of the 10 trainers will include a full redesign of the avionics in the tandem cockpit and the installation of systems that will enhance the capability of the PC-9 as an advanced trainer. The upgrade will also enable the aircraft to carry advanced weapon systems.
