The Israeli airport authority (IAA) is evaluating three types of autonomous patrol vehicles which all feature multi sensor payloads and autonomous operation to improve the heavy perimeter security around Ben Gurion international airport, near Tel-Aviv .

The airport currently conducts heavy perimeter security patrols along its multi-sensor perimeter fence with autonomous patrol vehicles but says the use of unmanned vehicles will allow greater coverage.

The evaluation includes a product by Canada's Frontline Robotics and two vehicles developed by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and Elbit systems.

The Israeli companies already operate their vehicles along the border between Israel and the Gaza strip of the Palestinian authority.
