A BAe Jetstream 31 operated by Venezuelan domestic carrier Rutas Aereas Venezolanas crashed on approach to Caracas Maiquetía airport on 18 November. The aircraft had 21 people on board, including two crew members, when it crashed into the airport's fire station at 13:02. Three fatalities had been reported as Flight International closed for press. The aircraft had taken off from El Vigia in Venezuela's eastern Mérida state at 08:20 and had flown into heavy rain in the Caracas area.
