Japan Airlines has become the third airline after Cathay Pacific and All Nippon Airways (ANA) to take delivery of a Boeing 777-300, with the handover of its first of five Pratt & Whitney PW4090-powered aircraft on 28 July. JAL's second aircraft will be delivered this month. The P&W-powered 777-300 version recently received US approval for 180min extended-range twinjet operations.
