Kenya's Jambo Jet has been granted permission to operate on routes from Mombasa and Nairobi to destinations across Africa.
The Kenyan civil aviation authority has cleared Jambo to fly internationally from the two Kenyan to cities in Burundi, the Comoros, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Madagascar, French department Mayotte, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda.
Specifically, the airline can use Boeing 737 narrowbodies to serve Bujumbura, Moroni, Goma, Kisangani, Addis Ababa, Antananarivo, Dzaoudzi, Kigali, Hargeisa, Juba, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Pemba, Zanzibar and Entebbe, until 27 September 2014.
Low-cost carrier Jambo, which has not yet begun operations, also has rights to fly 737s domestically between Nairobi and Eldoret, Kisumu, Lamu, Malindi, Mombasa and Wajir.
Its parent, Kenya Airways, has also been given authorised to operate from Mombasa and Nairobi to Wajir.
Saudia Cargo has meanwhile gained permission to operate cargo services to Nairobi and Eldoret from Dar es Salaam, Jeddah, Johannesburg, Lagos and N'djamena, within two years from 14 January.
