Japan's National Police Agency has decided to acquire two additional Bell 412EPs and one additional Agusta A109 Power for delivery early next year.

The Bell 412EP was selected over the Eurocopter AS365 Dauphin in the agency's ongoing Bell 206 replacement programme. Last year it acquired one Dauphin, but this year Bell was able to underbid Eurocopter because of a more favourable exchange rate.

The police agency acquired its first three A109 Powers in 2003. For the second year, it has selected the A109 over the Eurocopter EC135 and Kawasaki BK117.
