Japan Airlines (JAL) has unveiled the cabin configuration for the Boeing 787s it will operate on its international long-haul services.
JAL has begun selling seats for the first long-haul service on the Tokyo Narita-Boston route, scheduled to start on 1 April 2012.
The online booking system reveals the aircraft will have 186 seats, with 42 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration and 144 economy class seats in a 2-4-2 configuration.
JAL will use the 787 four times weekly on the Tokyo-Boston service, before increasing it to a daily flight from 1 June. The airline, which has 35 787s on order, has only confirmed this service for the aircraft.
Launch customer All Nippon Airways will outfit its first 787s with 264 seats for its regional and domestic operations.
These will have 12 business class and 252 economy class seats. Later, the airline's regionally-configured aircraft will have 222 seats as it ramps up its initial pilot and cabin crew training.
For its international long-haul operations, ANA's 787s will have 158 seats, with 46 business class seats in a 1-2-1 and 1-1-1 staggered configuration, and 112 economy class seats.
