Aviation Technology Group and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) are close to selecting the 3,000lb-thrust (13.3kN) engines required for the Javelin Mk30 military trainer. The Mk10 very-light business jet and Mk20 military basic trainer will use Williams FJ33-4 turbofans, but the IAI-built Mk30 requires more powerful engines and a redesigned aft section. The Mk30 advanced trainer will have a $6-8 million unit cost, says IAI.
