The Javelin missile joint venture has received a $174 million contract to continue low-rate initial production of the fire-and-forget anti-tank weapon for the US military. The contract covers 1,015 additional Javelin missiles and 125 launchers. Deliveries are scheduled between October 1997 and September 1998. The Javelin, was developed by Texas Instruments and Lockheed Martin. The US Army recently decided to speed up Javelin production.
