Colorado-based Aviation Technology Group (ATG) was poised to take its prototype Javelin very light jet to 200kt (370km/h) as Flight International closed for press. During the previous two 35min flights, speeds ranged from 135-185kt at altitudes of 10,000-14,000ft (3,000-4,300m).

Bank angles were progressively increased to 45°, says ATG, adding that handling qualities tests have included longitudinal and lateral stability, roll performance and trim effectiveness. Tests will be conducted with the gear down until a back-up deployment system is fitted during a forthcoming hiatus in flying. Flight testing is to continue throughout the rest of the year. Initial customer deliveries of the Javelin are scheduled for 2008.
