Looking more like the military trainer it will become than the very-light business jet it will start life as, Colorado-based Aviation Technology Group's prototype Javelin is prepared for its first flight. The demonstrator will be used to evaluate performance, handling and selected systems for the certificated Javelin Mk10 executive jet as well as Mk20 and Mk30 advanced jet trainers developed jointly with Israel Aircraft Industries. Engine runs have been completed on Williams FJ33-4-15M turbofans, modified with an inverted-flight oil system to allow aerobatics. A Martin Baker ejector seat and Avidyne flat-panel cockpit displays have been installed in the front cockpit. Deliveries of the Mk10 should begin in 2007, followed in 2008-9 by the Mk20/30.
