Jazz Aviation has won a contract to provide heavy maintenance and overhaul of Bombardier Dash 8 turboprops operated by United Express regional carrier CommutAir, Jazz announces.
Jazz, a division of Halifax-based Chorus Aviation, will provide the MRO services under its Jazz Technical Services division at a facility on the grounds of Halifax Stanfield International Airport, Jazz says.
The company says it will maintain 15 of CommutAir's 21 Dash 8-200s and Dash 8-300s turboprops under the agreement. CommutAir is a US carrier based in North Olmsted, Ohio.
Jazz established its Technical Services division in May as a means to diversify revenue following the signing of new capacity purchase agreement with Air Canada in 2015.
That deal will see Jazz' guaranteed revenue from Air Canada tumble by double digits in the coming years, Jazz has said.
Earlier this year Jazz announced it won an agreement to maintain CRJ100s and CRJ200s operated by Mississauga, Ontario-based Air Georgian. It is also refurbishing interiors of Dash 8-300s operated by Jazz for Air Canada.
