Boeing-owned Jeppesen is to supply the airport mapping database (AMDB) software that will be hosted on the Thales-developed on-board airport navigation system (OANS) available for the entire Airbus product line. The OANS is a moving-map display that helps pilots navigate complex airports.
At present, says Jeppesen, its AMDB provides data for 300 major airports worldwide, and customers can request software for additional airports. Detail shown includes guidance markings, gates, aprons, parking areas, de-icing pads, buildings, installations and obstacles.
