Selection India's Jet Airways has selected the Airbus A340 as Its long-haul aircraft, with an initial three -300s expected to be sub-leased from South African Airways (SAA). Airbus sources say if the deal with SAA is completed this week as expected, the aircraft will be delivered to Jet in April and May. The A340-300s were to be delivered new to SAA later this quarter. Jet requires widebodies urgently after last month winning seven weekly frequencies to the UK. Air Sahara also has won rights to fly to the UK and is close to signing a lease deal for three A310s from Singapore Airlines.
