JetBlue Airways is considering expanding the number of seats in its "Even More Space" offering on its Embraer E-190s operating from Boston beginning in 2012.
Earlier this year JetBlue re-branded its Even More Legroom product to the Even More Space offering to capture additional features the carrier rolled out including early boarding, early access to overhead bin space and expedited security screening.
JetBlue across its fleet this year added one row to the Even More Space offering. The carrier's A320 fleet has six seats in the extra space offering and 8 are offered on its E-190s.
But carrier chief commercial officer Robin Hayes during a 26 October earnings call said JetBlue is evaluating an expansion of Even More Seats on its E-190s flying from Boston.
"Quite often those seats are sold out days before departure," said Hayes.
JetBlue recorded $19 in ancillary revenue per passenger for the third quarter, and carrier CFO Mark Powers said the carrier is on track to generate more than $100 million in revenue during 2011 from sales of its Even More Space offering.
The carrier is also looking at some product unbundling. Hayes said JetBlue is considering selling the Even More Speed element of the expanded space programme as a standalone product next year.
JetBlue's rolled-out its expedited security screening programme earlier this year at 15 airports.
The New York-based carrier also plans to introduced Ka-band supported connectivity next year as part of an expanded in-flight entertainment offering.
