Singapore-based low-cost carrier Jetstar Asia will have 17 Airbus A320-200s and four A330-200s based at its Singapore hub by the end of 2011.
Jetstar's increase of its Singapore-based fleet is in line with the carrier's aim of expanding its service offerings across Asia, said Jetstar Group chief executive Bruce Buchanan.
Buchanan added that Jetstar will also increase service capacity between Australia and Singapore.
In addition, from August and September, Jetstar will increase its frequencies on the Singapore-Taipei, Singapore-Kuala Lumpur, Singapore-Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore-Hong Kong, Singapore-Bali and Singapore-Jakarta routes.
Jetstar is also planning new routes. It will launch a thrice-weekly service between Singapore and Ningbo on 9 September and a daily service between Melbourne and Beijing, via Singapore, from 24 November.
Jetstar Asia CEO Chong Phit Lian said on 8 July that the carrier is also interested in launching long-haul services from Singapore to North Asia, and services to southern Europe.
Jetstar Asia operates 12 Airbus A320 aircraft, according to Flightglobal's ACAS database.
