Lockheed Martin and European Aeronautic Defence and Space (EADS) announced at the show yesterday that they had concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore partnership opportunities on missile defence programmes.

They will identify areas in which they have compatible capabilities and look at joint investments in key technologies to enhance the effectiveness of current and future programmes.

Initial areas of discussion will include sea-based systems; early warning and sensor networking; and interceptor concepts.

Lockheed Martin and EADS are already teamed on MEADS International, an international organisation to design and develop a medium-range air and missile defence system.

Meanwhile, Danish aerospace and defence company Terma yesterday signed an MoU with Lockheed Martin to co-operate in the design, development and production of test pods for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
