Four major players in the simulation industry have signed an agreement to form a joint venture company to produce a major part of the Eurofighter ASTA (Aircrew Synthetic Training Aids) training systems.

Called Eurofighter Simulation Systems, the company is formed by Thomson Training & Simulation of the UK, Indra of Spain, Meteor of Italy and ARGE STN-Atlas/CAE Gmbh of Germany.

It will be based in Munich where it can work in close collaboration with Daimler-Benz Aerospace, the prime contractor for the Eurofighter ASTA system.

It marks a major step toward cooperation within the European simulation industry with the initial requirement that the company produce more than 30 training devices.
