Sir - A recent judgement, which was made in the USA, that a pilot's personal file, along with his training records from previous employers, should be made available to prospective employers throughout his career will have enormous implications for the UK's pilot workforce should this ruling be adopted.

The US decision was, as far as I understand, bought about by an incident which may have been avoidable had the records of the pilot involved in that incident been available to the airline which was employing him at the time.

It will be of the greatest importance to ensure that whatever is written about pilots (and also the information which is recorded) is accurate, unbiased and indisputable.

This, of course, will present quite a task for the aerospace industry.
