Korean Air (KAL) is considering placing orders for at least 12 Boeing 787s and selecting engines for both the 787 and Airbus A380 simultaneously at the Paris air show in June.

Industry sources say KAL has been evaluating the Airbus A350 and 787 since last year and this year submitted tenders to Rolls-Royce and General Electric requesting bids for 787 engines.

KAL has been evaluating the Trent 900 and Engine Alliance GP7200 since placing orders for five A380s and three options at the 2003 Paris air show. It had planned to select an engine by the end of last year, but delayed the decision until March.

KAL confirms the decision is delayed until June, but declines to comment on its evaluation of the 787 and the engines.
