Egypt's Kato Group has emerged as the launch customer for the Rolls-Royce-powered Tu-204 with an order for 200 aircraft. Kato chairman Ibrahim Kamel plans to start a leasing company for the aircraft targeted at carriers in the CIS and Middle East. The aircraft is scheduled to be certificated in January with production rising to five a month by 2001.
